We're so glad you're here! We have been on this journey together for over 10 years - one that has taken us from Memphis to Los Angeles to Chattanooga to New York to Palo Alto and back to New York again. Throughout our decade together, we have crossed paths with all of you and would not be here today without your love and support. Thank you!
One of the constants in our relationship has been travel and exploration, getting out of our comfort zones and experiencing different ways of life. Our greatest wish is to bring our special people together to celebrate love, family and friendship while experiencing a new culture. We know this is a big ask - we so appreciate you making the trip for us!
What awaits you on the other side is Scopello, an ancient fishing village overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea whose Tonnara (or tuna factory) dates back to the 13th century. While the Tonnara has been converted into oceanside residences, its stewards have left behind key features that make you feel as though you are stepping back in time. We hope you will savor this history with us for a holiday weekend embracing a simpler way of being. Travel to Sicily
Flights
Fly into Palermo (PMO), which is a ~40 minute drive from Scopello. We recommend arriving no later than Thursday 9/12 so you can kick your jet lag and buffer for any travel delays and departing Monday 9/16 so that you can join us for the beach day on Sunday!
Flight Tip: You can often find more flight options by booking your flight to Milan, Rome or another hub separately, and then booking a flight on a local European carrier to PMO.
You may also train to Palermo from other parts of Sicily (e.g., Catania / Taormina).
Transport from Palermo to Scopello
Taxis are available at the airport and train station (NOTE: no Uber or Lyft) for approximately €80. We recommend booking a taxi in advance through your hotel. WhatsApp is the best way to get in touch with drivers and businesses in general in Sicily.
Transport During The Weekend
Transport will be provided to and from the hotels in Scopello to the Tonnara for both the wedding and beach recovery day (approx. 2 minute drive). The town of Scopello is on a hill, so we do not recommend walking to the Tonnara for wedding day in your dress attire.
The welcome dinner on Friday is a 3 minute walk from the hotels in town.
We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore other areas, but this is not necessary.
